SOG Tech II – S12

SOG Knives Collectors’ Tech II Review/Take:

Just like it’s little brother the “SOG Tech”, the Tech II has the same features except that it has a larger blade at 7.25″. The length may not be exact as these 2 models were ground by hand and sharpened, or so it was said for the earlier produced knives. Some people said that the length might vary from 7″ to 7.375″ vs SOG’s advertised 7.25″. It is also the predecessor or the SOG ‘Tech’. The ‘Tech II’ was originally called the “Tech”, but when the new shorter 5.75″ ‘Tech’ came out this 7.25″ knife’s name changed to “Tech II”.

Earlier produced Tech II’s have the words “EDM.WA” engraved below the SOG logo on the knife. The oldest version have the words “S.M.CA” marked on the blade, and is one of the oldest SOGs that were produced. The last version to be produced did not have any wordings engraved below the ‘square SOG logo’. Leather sheaths with the earlier versions proceded the nylon and condura sheaths for the later produced knives. The Tech II is said to be the foundation for the ‘Seal 2000 Knife’, which retains certain features and designs of the Tech II.

6 – Products from 6 onwards are either discontinued or limited edition.
7 – Discontinued knives that pop up once every few months onkthe “For Sale” part of forums or on ebay. Still can be found at a few online shops though.
8 – Knives that need lots of researching to find. Not available anymore in online knife shops and pop up (if you’re lucky) >4 months for one at a time.
9 – Knives holding this rarity are the shadowy kind. You can’t find any information on them at all (not even from online knife shops that have not taken down that knife’s product page). If you see one for sale grab at all cost.
